Throughout history, many cultures and spiritual practices have em phasized the importance of following the heart, listening to the heart, trusting the heart. Ancients believed that the heart was the central organ that moved the rest of the body. The Egyptians believed that the heart, rather than the brain, was the source of human wisdom, as well as emotions, memory, the soul and the personality itself. They believed it was through the heart that God spoke.

A human heart contains 40,000 neurons. It has its own nervous system. The heart can also function in certain dimensions. The physical function is to keep the blood circulating throughout the body, enriching our cells with oxygen, keeping the rhythm of our anatomy running. The emotional function, though, is to be the source of all emotional energy, being in charge of virtues such as courage, creativity, and compassion. The spiritual functions of the heart contain the depth of your soul, and the organ is the source of the connection with the divine and the divine within you.

When I speak of the “heart”, I am not referring to the physical organ but to the spiritual heart. The physical heart might be the center of the body, but the spiritual heart is the center of the spirit. The spiritual heart is the vital center and source of one’s being, emotions, and sensibility. It transcends belief systems and cultures. It’s the key to spiritual growth.

METHOD

Find a place where you can be comfortable throughout the three stages. You may stand, move, lie down and have your eyes either open or closed. Simply remember to complete your meditation. This meditation will take between 30 minutes and an hour.

As you begin this meditation, close your eyes and take three deep breaths to tell your body that you are starting. Place your hand over your heart and start breathing in and out. You can breathe in through your nose and exhale throughout the nose or mouth.

First Stage: Connecting With The Heart (10 Minutes – Unlimited)

Bring your awareness to your body and breathing, feel yourself here and now. Then bring your awareness to your heart chakra, the energy center inside the middle of your chest. Connect to the beating of your heart. Breathe in with your nose and direct the energy into the heart, inhale through your mouth, out from the heart.

Second Stage: Connect With Yourself (10 Minutes – Until Necessary)

Breathe in your misery, direct it to the heart. Let it be transformed there into joy, into bliss. Breathe out all of the joy, the blissfulness; pour yourself into existence. Start with your own misery, feel it with as much intensity as possible—the hurt, the wounds, and the suffering in your whole life. Accept it and welcome it. You may express in sounds, words, gestures, and movements what is happening inside you, or you may let it happen silently.

Third Stage: Connect With All The People In The World (10 Minutes – Until Necessary)

Now expand this process. Take the whole misery of all beings, unconditionally—friends, enemies, family, strangers. Accept and welcome it. Breathe in all of this misery and suffering. Absorb it into the heart. Let it be transformed there into joy, into bliss. Breathe out all the joy, the blissfulness; pour yourself into existence. You may express in sounds, words, gestures, and movements what is happening inside you, or let it happen silently.

Forth Stage: Come Back (10 Minutes – Until Necessary)

Lie down, close your eyes, be silent and still. Return to normal breathing and relax. Return the attention to the place where you are situated. Remove the attention from others, the world, and even yourself.

WHEN, HOW, WHERE

In this meditation, you are connecting to the collective consciousness of Jesus Christ. Nothing to do with any religion, but instead the capacity to transform any pain into blissfulness through compassion.

If you find it challenging to go through this meditation, go back to the Power of Release and choose a meditation that can help you release the attachment to your pain. Any will do. Just allow the release to happen.

Keep trying this meditation until you find it normal, usual and comforting, using your heart as a catalyzer. You are an alchemist. Everything happens through you.
